EVIDENCE MEDICINE.COM SUGGESTS those with heart disease, high cholesterol or obesity to try LIMITING EACH MEAL TO ABOUT 10 GRAMS (21 G AT MOST) OF FAT AND 3 GRAMS (6 G MAX) OF SATURATED FAT as a goal MOST of the time.  This translates to about 30-65 G fat / 10-20 G Sat fat per day as maximum limits - not goals - lower is better.

USDA RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 2,000 CAL/DAY DIET: 65 G TOT FAT, 20 G SAT FAT, 300 MG CHOLEST, 2400 MG SODIUM, 40 G REFINED SUGARS (NOT INCLUD MILK OR FRUIT SUGAR) - as maximums.

Request sandwiches without mayonaise, tartar sauce or other very high fat and calorie sauces(at minimum ask for “light on the sauce”). Ask for no fat or reduced fat sauces when available - or use your own.  Burger King offers reduced fat mayo on request which can save 90 cals, 12 GRAMS of FAT (2 SAT) compared to reg mayonaise.  No fat mayonaise/dressings are even better.

Get sandwiches without cheese, consider topping with no-fat cheese slices available at most grocery stores.

AVOID DEEP FRIED FOODS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
